Saturation System Procurement and Installation for the Well-Safe Guardian

About the Client

Well-Safe Solutions is a leading well-decommissioning specialist operating the Well-Safe Guardian, a dedicated semi-submersible unit designed for complex offshore decommissioning projects.

The Challenge

As part of preparing the Well-Safe Guardian for a major decommissioning campaign, Well-Safe Solutions required a complete saturation diving system overhaul. This included procurement of a full saturation spread, integration of twin 18-man Self-Propelled Hyperbaric Lifeboats (SPHLs), and coordination of international shipping and logistics. The project demanded refurbishment, modernization, and installation of the system within strict mobilisation timelines, ensuring compliance with IMCA and class standards. Well-Safe needed a trusted partner with proven expertise in SAT system sourcing, refurbishment, and commissioning.

Orca Oceanic Systems (ORCA) was awarded a Master Services Agreement to manage the entire programme. ORCA delivered a turnkey solution, including:

  • Procurement of a complete saturation system from Singapore
  • Supply and integration of twin 18-man SPHLs
  • International shipping and secure storage of all assets
  • Full strip-down and rebuild of the system, including:
    • Removal and refurbishment of DDCs
    • Replacement of SAT and dive control panels
    • Complete electrical overhaul and O₂ cleaning
    • Repiping and Mara Panel refurbishment
    • Installation of new through-water communications
    • Umbilical testing and chamber cladding upgrades
    • HRC modifications for integration with living chambers
